Transforming to a new way of being - Denia Bradshaw
Barak Bomani presented several themes in last Sunday’s sermon. Some notable ones for me included when he spoke about “divorcing the world,” how there is no law against the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and the importance of getting our inside worlds straight (The Beatitudes, Matthew 5:3-12). These concepts resonated very deeply. I know I struggle with comparison, can lack gratitude, and all too often lose sight of what God calls me to do, especially when it comes to the fruits of the spirit. The preaching and spoken word by Barak was a timely, powerful message, and served as an essential wake up call for me.
Where do you sense a need to distance yourself from the ways of the world?
What steps can you take to align your inner world?
Are there parts of your life where you’re lacking love, joy, peace, or other fruits of the spirit? (remaining fruits being: patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control).
How might you turn away from worldly attachments to pursue a more spiritual path?
Where and how can you intentionally engage with God and revisit the core messages from Sunday?
