We’re a radically welcoming community on a journey towards Jesus, joining him in the renewal of all things.
Practically, we’re really diverse—there’s no one dominant racial or ethnic group, and we’re from varying socio-economic classes and differing political perspectives. Whether you identify as LGBTQ, straight, gay friendly - progressive, conservative - post-evangelical, spiritually eclectic - faithful, faithless, or just trying to sort it all out, we are affirming and inclusive of each person’s spiritual journey right where they are, right here and now, while focusing on Jesus as the center.
This past Sunday we talked about ‘Rahab the prostitute,’ named such over and over in Scripture. And we asked questions about when names and labels can hurt and when they can heal. We explored the power of claiming our own stories and the way we remember and tell them, the good, the bad and the messy.
Shame can convince us that there is something wrong with who we are. It can make us feel responsible for other people’s choices, systems we did not create, expectations we could never meet, and circumstances that required us to survive rather than choose freely.
