Someone - Billy Minshall
“The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ The head cannot say to the feet ‘I don’t need you!’ In fact, it is just the opposite. The parts of the body that seem to be weaker are the ones we cannot do without.” 1 Corinthians 12: 21-22.
Someone takes care of everything. At home, someone takes out the garbage, someone does the dishes. When planning an event at church, we agree that someone should set up, someone should bring food, someone should be the point person. Someone is very important.
While leading Kids Camp last month, I was blessed with an army of someones. A few someones in charge of snacks, a very special someone tasked with spreadsheets and schedules, someone Bilingual to register children as they arrived. The point of course is that someone is not a name. Actual people agree to give their time and talents to keep ministries running.
In the verse above, Paul reminds the church in Corinth that none of us can do anything without each other. We are all part of the larger body. Without someone overseeing tech on Sunday, we could not hear the message. Without someone making coffee on Sundays, we might not even be awake enough to receive that message.
I will even defer to someone to post this reflection. And I hope that someone knows how beloved they are because we all rely on someone.
