Praying Before We Risk

Yesterday, Ali prayed this remarkable prayer after the message on “If you lose your life you’ll save it.” (Luke 9:24)

Spend some time with this prayer today, seeing what parts you can make your own.

Help us deconstruct the binary of risk and safe as good and bad,
before risk for the sake of it violates our belovedness.

Help us affirm who we have been made to be,
before denying our goodness.

Help us own and be secure in our identities,
before being asked to give it away.

Help us honor our bodies and their resilience,
before putting them in harms way

Help us sit with ourselves,
before risking something we haven’t fully had access to.

Help us recognize healthy vulnerability for courage,
before we mistake it for weakness.

Help us Lord, be who you’ve made us to me.
