Wholehearted Living - Denia Bradshaw

One of the topics that stood out to me from last Sunday’s service, was when Billy Minshall and Bill White spoke about how we show up in our world. It reminded me of these guideposts I read in Brené Brown’s book, The Gifts of Imperfection. They are called the “10 Guideposts for Wholehearted Living,” and I thought I could share them with you in this Reflection. I particularly like them not just as reminders but as reframes for moments when I get “stuck.” I hope you find them helpful as well.

Paraphrased, they are the 10 Guideposts for Wholehearted Living:

Letting go of what people think and cultivating authenticity.

Letting go of perfectionism and cultivating self-compassion.

Letting go of numbing and powerlessness and cultivating a resilient spirit

Letting go of scarcity and fear of the dark and cultivating gratitude and joy.

Letting go of need for certainty and cultivating intuition and faith.

Letting go of comparison and cultivating creativity.

Letting go of exhaustion as a status symbol and productivity as self-worth and cultivating rest and play.

Letting go of anxiety as a lifestyle and cultivating calm and stillness.

Letting go of self doubt and “supposed to” and cultivating meaningful work.

Letting go of cool and always in control and cultivating laughter, song, and dance

Is there a guidepost that resonates with you? Where might you let go? What might God be nudging you to cultivate for wholehearted living?
