To See The Face of God
I (Bill) shared in yesterday’s message about experiencing forgiveness from my brother after being unable to truly accept and love him for years. Then, my brother who forgave me jumped on the call and we talked it out. He said he just always believed I would come around to be able to accept him (ironically, he does not claim to be a believer). And he was right.
At the end of interviewing my brother I shared this line from our text: To see your face is like seeing the face of God. – Genesis 33:10. To hear such kind words of acceptance and forgiveness from him, it literally just occurred to me in the moment to speak those words to him. It felt like God was present. God was doing something in me and in him and in us.
There’s a deep connection between experiencing repair of forgiveness and being aware of God’s Spirit at work. Where have you sense that in your own life - or where do you long for it?

That line about seeing God in others was adapted as the climax of the famous book/play/movie Les Miserables. Notice how it’s tied not only to reconciling relationships, but also to the overall work of justice that brought down an empire. You can see the movie adaptation HERE.
