No Growth without Pain
For some of us this week, we’ve been confronted by an area of life that has made us uncomfortably - namely, White Supremacy. For some of us, we’ve had to face these issues long ago. This quote by an activist, and the one that it includes from Carl Jung might be a helpful reflection regardless of what group you find yourself in. No doubt there are plenty of areas of your life where you’ve had to expand in your capacity to understand and grow. So talk with Jesus about what comes up for you today.
It is disrupting to be exposed for a lack of knowledge or to run out of stamina. It is disrupting to lack theological resources or to discover that your identity is more compromised by white superiority than you want to admit.
Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology, said, “There is no coming to consciousness without pain,”
