Deep-Spirited Friends with Jesus

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

    -- John 15:15 (NIV)

All this talk of deep-spirited friends reminds me a bit of the circles of belonging that we looked at last week. In particular, I’m reminded of the idea that Jesus is in that intimate space in the center of those who know us. I think it is likely that, in order for people to make their way into that intimate space, they might also need to be deep-spirited friends. These two things are probably not the same, but they may very well overlap.

So last week we asked ourselves what it meant for Jesus to be in that intimate space. Will you take a few minutes this morning to consider whether or your friendship with Jesus is not just intimate, but also deep-spirited? How are those two things the same? How are they different?
