Be Made Whole

Do you want to be made whole? - John 5:6

There’s good reason to be angry these days. Just reading the news will drive you mad with all the injustice, war, and deception. And it should.

And yet.

And yet, if all we do is get mad, we’re missing out on the way of Jesus. So Today we get to respond to Jesus’s invitation to be made whole.

Spend some time with this poem, which Brenna Rubio shared in the message yesterday.

Blessing for a Broken Vessel

By Jan Richardson

Do not despair.
You hold the memory
of what it was
to be whole.

It lives deep
in your bones.
It abides
in your heart
that has been torn
and mended
a hundred times.

It persists
in your lungs
that know the mystery
of what it means
to be full,
to be empty,
to be full again.

wonder
what it would be like
for those jagged edges
to meet each other
in some new pattern
that you have never imagined,
that you have never dared
to dream.
