All To Come To Life
God is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
- 2 Peter 3:9
On Sunday the message was about Luke 13:22-30 and how the ‘narrow door’ applied to the religious folk who trusted in their own religious instead of knowing God, but that for the rest of the world the door was wide open (for those from the East, West, North and South). Here the Spirit of God circles back around to that idea - that God is earnestly seeking every person on the planet.
So if God is earnestly seeking everyone on the plane that means a couple of things for us. First, it means that no one is safe from God’s love! God’s desire is for all to enter into that life-giving, deep, flourishing relationship with Jesus. So that means when we look at other people, the reality of God seeking them is perhaps the biggest single reality in their lives. Wow, that’s deep.
And second, if this is what God’s doing, then we should be doing the same! If God doesn’t want any to perish but is eagerly desiring all to turn back towards Christ, then that is an invitation for us to do just the same.
As a small step today toward following these scriptures, spend a few minutes praying for some friends and family members to experience God’s radically welcoming love in Christ. Especially pray for those who seem like they might be furthest from it!
